While State of Style may be less than 6 months young, we have had our fair share of lessons, experiences, and also wins. Like any business, the highs come and go and fast as lows and three of the biggest words we have incorporated into our dialogue are patience, positivity and perseverance.
Last week, State of Style had a pop-up store at Design District in Zagreb and both Andriana & Adriana spent some time together outside of the Radiceva 12 store and had an open conversation about what it takes to survive and thrive in business in Croatia after reflecting on the past four months.
In case you haven’t noticed, the store does have it’s very own YouTube Channel but time in developing the channel has been working against us. However, as a team we have decided to introduce you to our business, a world that doesn’t celebrate with champagne yet – but is working towards that. As time progresses, we will show you the day to day business activities, take you inside our meetings, our discussions, why we choose the brands that we do, which influencers we will be working with & why, how we adapt to failure and most importantly, how we get up when the world has fallen apart around us- or so we think.
Andriana and Adriana talk about what it takes to succeed in Croatia…
WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR ANYONE WISHING TO START A BUSINESS IN CROATIA?
Let go of the fear, the hardest part of starting is just that, starting. It doesn’t matter how many people believe you cannot do it, if you believe you can, that’s all that matters. Let your doubters be your fuel for success. Also, know “when to take the trash out,” not everyone has your best interests at heart. Not everyone you consider a friend, is your friend- most people pose as friends and act as spies, the tricky part of identifying them.
If you find yourself around people who constantly put you down and your own vision, simply remove them from your life. Your sanity will thank you for it later.
3 VALUES THAT ARE MOST IMPORTANT TO SUCCEED IN CROATIA
Firstly, be open. Be open with people about your creativity and ideas because shared ideas can multiple rapidly around the right people. Share ideas, share what you know. Selfishness only breeds and attracts selfishness. It is much harder to succeed on your own, the greatest challenge in this region is finding the right team.
Work ethic is second, a willingness to put in the work for the results you desire is a must. Rome wasn’t built in a day and required plenty of vision and hard work by all those involved. If you have time for a coffee everyday to catch up with your friends, you have too much time on your hands.
“Selfishness only breeds & attracts selfishness.”
Finally, never stop learning, never stop expanding your knowledge. Knowledge is power and knowledge is key. Your willingness to learn is one of your greatest assets. We live in a world now where everything is easily accessible and practically ‘one click away‘ so not understanding how to do something is not an excuse. Read books, attend seminars and conferences, watch tutorials, learn how other people became who they are and figure out your own way to greatness.

HOW TO DEAL WITH HATERS?
It goes without saying that the better you become, the more you attain that others don’t have and the more you achieve in life, unfortunately opens up some negative rooms. As long as you stay true to yourself, treat everyone you come across with kindness and focus on your path, ignoring those who disagree with you and what you do becomes a lot easier.
Let your haters be the fuel for your success story.
