“So, the place we’re staying at next is slightly different to what we just stayed in…”
I tell my best friend and former housemate, Emma of over ten years who knows me well enough to know that I can swing from one extreme to another. The look on her face says it all, or maybe it’s the jet lag kicking in. Who knows but all I knew was that she was going to ‘have a word to me‘ about a couple of things during our trip and this would be one of them. “It’s like a camp, resort kind of thing but we are staying in an apartment and I’m sure the bathroom is no more than two meters from the bed.” I started to treat my expectations of Croatia like a third world country when in reality it was nothing close. I then showed her the instagram page of Turist Grabovac which immediately caught my best friend’s attention.
“There’s a tipi? Why are we not staying in a tipi?” she begins to question.
“Well, I don’t know if the tipi’s have actual bathrooms in them and besides I thought this kind of accommodation would scare the living lights out of you!”
“It’s a tipi!!! We could have slept in a tipi, how cool would that be?” As much as I may no longer shock my own friend, she still manages to often surprise me.
The Indian Village at the Turist Grabovac Resort was a pleasant surprise and inevitably high in demand during the summer season so unfortunately we couldn’t stay there. It calls home to 6 large tipi’s, that comfortably sleep 4 people. You can read more about the tipi’s at Turist Grabovac at Jetset Times.
